Fred Phillips of SIGMA Plastic Services discusses SIGMASOFT® generates simulations in a fundamentally different way than traditional simulation tools. When process simulation is coupled with all of the mold components, the entire injection mold and process is simulated, rather than assumed. This allows users to make accurate and confident decisions about tooling designs and process parameters. These capabilities will be shown through a powerpoint presentation and software demonstration. Fred Phillips with SIGMA Plastic Services, Inc. offers a series of webinars to present SIGMASOFT®: The Next Generation of Injection Molding Polymer Simulation. This webinar series will cover a variety of SIGMASOFT® benefits and capabilities. If injection molded plastic or rubber parts are critical to the success of your business, you will benefit from attending these webinars. SIGMASOFT® is utilized by Part Designers, Mold Designers, Project Engineers, Process Engineers, Quality Engineers, CAE/FEA Analysts, R&D Teams, Plastics Business Owners, Engineering Management and Production Management. When it comes to making the right design, tooling, and process decisions, the accuracy of simulation makes all the difference. The reason SIGMASOFT® simulations are so accurate is rooted in its history. The core simulation physics and programming in SIGMASOFT® were developed by the same company that makes MAGMASOFT® – the foundry and die casting industry’s de facto standard for metal casting

I make small list
for you to start
You right
I copy paste
Can’t fool you

Common plastics and uses
Polypropylene (PP)
Food containers, appliances, car fenders (bumpers).
Polystyrene (PS)
Packaging foam, food containers, disposable cups, plates, cutlery, CD and cassette boxes.
High impact polystyrene (HIPS)
fridge liners, food packaging, vending cups.
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)
Electronic equipment cases (e.g., computer monitors, printers, keyboards), drainage pipe.
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
carbonated drinks bottles, jars, plastic film, microwavable packaging.
Polyester (PES)
Fibers, textiles.
Polyamides (PA) (Nylons)
Fibers, toothbrush bristles, fishing line, under-the-hood car engine mouldings.
Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)
Plumbing pipes and guttering, shower curtains, window frames, flooring.
Polyurethanes (PU)
cushioning foams, thermal insulation foams, surface coatings, printing rollers. (Currently 6th or 7th most commonly used plastic material, for instance the most commonly used plastic found in cars).
Polycarbonate (PC)
Compact discs, eyeglasses, riot shields, security windows, traffic lights, lenses.
Polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) (Saran)
Food packaging.
Polyethylene (PE)
Wide range of inexpensive uses including supermarket bags, plastic bottles.
Polycarbonate/Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (PC/ABS)
A blend of PC and ABS that creates a stronger plastic. :Car Interior and exterior parts

I give more info
if you ask me
Like to see
you happy

Plastics drying?

Question by hyperizzzed_maniac: Plastics drying?
when plastic is being injection moulded, how long would it take to dry up? I want to know about acrylic & Nylon.
I heard its 3 seconds… it that true? if not, then how long approximately?

Best answer:

Answer by Peggy P
i live in florida and plastics and rubber products open to the emviroment dry up very fast(one year) , i beileve it’s high humidity and high temperatures that do a number on them.
nylon waist bands are the first thing to go they loose elastisity and become sticky than fall apart.
